The organ

It is the wish of the Stichting Cathedral Organ Leiden to realize a Romantic period English organ that has the allure of a true cathedral organ, and that is ideally suited for the performance of English organ works and the accompaniment of English choral music. In consultation with the advisors, the committee has laid down a concept arrangement that will serve as the guideline for the instrument that will be realized. The purchase of the ‘Father’ Willis organ now enables us to make more precise plans. The disposition of the Solo manual will be re-arranged according to the ‘Father’ Willis timbre (including the removal of stops that ‘Father’ Willis never placed in this department and the transfer of the Vox Humana to the Swell organ), ultimately being determined in consultation with the advisors and organ builder. The italicized items refer to registers of the Willis organ.
